28 Days of Reggae – Beres Hammond

beres hammond one love one life

Grammy-nominated former Zap Pow (what a name!) lead singer turned reggae crooner has definitely become a staple in reggae music since the mid-seventies and has influenced dozens of current and future reggae musicians in the industry.

After releasing his first solo project Soul Reggae in 1976, Hammond went on to contribute to the making of many babies with his ultra-smooth seductive voice with ballads One Step Ahead and I’m in Love – just to name a few.

As many musicians, Hammond formed his own label Harmony Records that saw his hit single What One Dance Can Do take flight into local and international markets.

Beres is the unmitigated lovers rock musician as well as overall reggae pioneer and holds the Order of Jamaica because the Jamaican government agrees.

These days look for more Beres in the studio, and possibly on tour.

My fave Beres track?
