28 Days or Reggae – Barrington Levy

Barrington Levy

This Clarendonian released his first single at the tender age of 14 in the late 1970s, but his career wouldn’t take flight until several years later with the top tracks Looking for My Love, Black Roses, and Skylarking, among others.

Gaining altitude with the success of his singles and subsequent studio release, Levy not only resonated with his fellow countrymen, but he also began to feel the loving arms of the UK music community opening to him as well, returning the love with a 1984 tour. In 1984 he won the British Reggae Award for Best Vocalist.

Levy made numerous appearances on collab tracks with JadaKiss, Mr. Vegas, Snoop Dog, Vybz Kartel, Khago, and Shaggy.

These days you can catch Barrington Levy in the studio and on the road. What Barrington Levy chune will you be jamming to this Reggae Month? For Reggae Month, next in rotation is…
